C'mon y'all, let's do this thang...

Schweet! This is going to be great time.

So, over the next few months I encourage you all to come back, see all the fabulous painted figures, and give encouragement to the Brush-Ronin who will be furiously working on their individual projects.

'Okay, just give up this Ray character and we'll leave without a fuss...'

  2. Am into a seriuos prep-o-thon ATM, have dug out every historical figure in my lead pile and preping them have also informed the old man if he wants anything painting be had best send it on down.
I wish all my fellow Ronin good luck and God speed (just not as much speed as me :) )
    Peace James

  3. So, 13 days to prep, then it is all on?

Looks like I need to open some boxes of miniatures....

  4. That's an impressive amount of entrants! You sure will have your work cut out for you Lord Curt! This looks to be very exciting!

Putting on my glasses armour and gathering my paint ashigaru's and samurai brushes to battle the other Daimyo's in the Sengoku paint war! Will there emerge a new Shögun of the brush this year or will the despot Ray retain his brutal regime? :-)

The honourable Fran san already has hired out ninja assassins to remove Ray's Samurai guard to enable him to sabotage Ray's paint's on the 19th to level the field a bit and weaken the evil Lord Ray.>:-)

    1. 47 will be a handful but it should be manageable. I've learned to streamline a few processes from last year.

I look forward to see what comes off your paint desk over the next few months.

  5. Really looking forward to this year. I think hopes of cracking the top 10 may be dashed with so many entrants. A prepping I shall go

  8. Ronin #2 say when the wind is in the east and the chicken clucks at dawn, so too does the fearful man expect nothing (errrr....wtf? The dubbed translation didn't even match my lips let alone make any sense!)
    :-)

You'll have a whole army of samurai figures at the end of this, Curt!

    1. Ha!! Good one!

Well I should be able to do a good skirmish game at least. (And the collection will be such a great momento!)

  9. Ronin #29 Reporting in!

I use the painting challenge to kick-off the big project for the following year. This year it's 28mm American Civil War so two boxes of the new Perry Plastic Confederate Infantry are sitting on my work bench awaiting assembly.

It's a little known historical fact that confederate soldiers painted themselves completely grey (equipment, faces, even beards). It was eerily similar to today's grey auto spray primers. I'm sure it's in an Osprey book somewhere. Just wanted to put that on the record before I make any submissions, you know for, ummm, historical clarity.

    1. Not just 'the boys in grey' but 'the boys DIPPED in grey'! Ooh, you're a crafty one Mr. Reidy.

      I look forward to seeing the historical reference to this little known fact... ;}

  10. OMG, 47 participants!
I must confess I'm just along for the ride, and if my most likely Tolkienesque offerings are accetable, I may score a few points too!
Good look to all, may your sable stay fine, your water clear, and your paint flowing.
And most important of all, good luck to Curt for managing this craziness! ;-)

  21. Right, I am starting to get my projects organized and prepped. Those that are already along will hopefully get done before the 20th. Glad to see above that Tolkien figures are ok, I have a few of those to paint.
    May God speed our brushes!

  22. As said previously, thanks a bunch Curt for taking the time to manage the craziness and best of luck to everyone involved.

I'm well pumped up and brimming over with plans. Time between now and the 20th will be agonizingly slow... Who would have thought Chrimbo could come any slower? ;-)

    1. Yes, last year it was an epic clash of the titans between you and Ray. Now we'll see how he fares with this group of challengers.

    2. I think for someone to match Kent's 28mm output would be exceptional indeed not to mention Ray painting little guys like a factory! I'm not sure I could even spray undercoat miniatures and give them a quick one colour dry brush as fast as you guys! You two where amazing last year and to be treated to another colossal battle of the same calibre would be a real treat again!
